1. Amritotsav (Fete) : The social service society along with other clubs organized a fete named Amritotsav 2022 on 16th October 2022. The program captured the cultural diversity of the country. We had 12 stalls designed and curated by the Officer Trainees. The stalls were designed based on a cultural theme by trainees allotted to a group of cadres. Two to three States’ themes were assigned to each stall. The stalls had not only snacks and beverages, but also fun exciting games.

This time, the schools situated close to the academy along with from far were invited. The fete has a wonderful footfall and almost all the stalls ran out of food and beverages. Through the sale during the fete, we raised funds for the social service club. This fund shall be utilized for various charity activities of the society.
2. Blood Donation Camp – On behalf of 97th Foundation Course Batch, The Society for Social Service and medical organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Blood bank of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dehradun on 4th December 2022 in LBSNAA, Mussoorie. The camp began at 10.00 A.M. Officer Trainees enthusiastically came forward to donate blood. There were 68 Volunteers came forward to donate blood out of which 63 units of blood was collected. There were 51 Officer Trainees, 12 Staff/Faculty who donated blood.

The blood donors were given with refreshments after donating, to reenergize themselves. The GDMC team was provided with lunch and the camp was concluded at around 4 P.M with the presentation of reward to the Medical Team. The Blood Donation Camp was Co-ordinated by Dr Anupam Talwar Madam Deputy Director and Medical in Charge of the Academy with support Medical Staff.
3. Go Green Help Clean Initiative – Isn’t it the beauty of nature that drives everyone to be part of trekking? So, Social Service club organized ” GO GREEN, HELP CLEAN” initiative combining trekking with collecting waste. It was inspired by honorable PM Narendra Modiji’s idea of Plogging i.e. picking waste while jogging.

It was organized on 8th October on short trek day. Waste collection bags were provided to all interested OTs individually as well as group wise. Sticks were also provided to catch the waste. Vehicle was along with to ensure that officer trainees can put the filled bags and collect afresh in new bags. OTs happily contributed in this initiative to make it successful.
4. SAVERA: Remedial Classes for Children – Continuing the legacy of Social Service Club and fulfilling social responsibility of teaching children, club initiated SAVERA. Interested Officer Trainees shared their knowledge with students to help them in their academics. Boards, markers, dusters were arranged in the Community Hall No 2. More than fifteen volunteers as Vidyaveers provided their contributions to the initiative. The students are always very excited to be mentored and taught by the Officer Trainees. The Officer Trainees are always equally enthused to interact and teach the students. These students were separately mentored so that the learning gaps could be bridged and brought to par with their classmates.

5. Fund raising for Mess Employees – Amritotsav led to not only raising funds for the Social Service Club but also each group, indirectly Officer Trainees out of their hard work and efforts put in the festival. Upon request from the club, all OTs readily donated all the profits out of the income of their stalls. It was an effort to recognize the dedication and efforts put by Mess staff in making the event successful.
6.AYUSH Camp: The AYUSH Camp under “Academy Amrit Arogya-Ayush Sewa” was held on 10th October 2022 at Rakia Inter College, Bangsali. Along with Ayurveda Wellness Center Team, Social Service team took part in awareness generation to school students and teachers on the topic “Ayurveda for Mental Well-being”. Around 200 plus students attended the awareness talk and 60 people availed the free OPD services. Team coordinated to distribute the Bal Raksha Kit and Swasthya Kit prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH to boost immunity. Booklet titled “Academy Amrit Arogya-Ayush Sewa” were also distributed to raise awareness about benefits of Ayurveda.

7. Career Counselling and Motivation Session – The Society members along with Volunteer officer Trainees conducted an interaction cum motivation session with the students of Oakgrove School, Kendriya Vidyalaya LBSNAA and Balwady School in Academy Campus on 12th October 2022. 6 volunteers were divided in to 3 groups of 2 each. Each group went to different schools and took session with 10th and 12th students to clear their doubts on career. The volunteered officer trainees counselled them about different career opportunities and gave them the motivation to work for their goals and aspirations. Their concerns on the curriculum and pedagogy of the school were raised to the school authorities and suggestions were also shared by the OTs.

8. Cloth Donation Drive – As the 97th FC is in its final days, taking advantage of the mandatory shifting of hostels by the Officer Trainees, we organized a cloth donation drive. Items ranging from shoes, shirts, trousers, jeans, caps, gloves, light blankets, umbrellas, bamboo bags etc are being donated by the Officer Trainees. These will be distributed to the BVG workers of the respective hostels. The society also conducted a similar exercise previous month. It is on the principle of Sharing is Caring.
9. Fund Raising for Underprivileged Children – keeping in mind the onset of harsh winters, society opened avenues for Officer Trainees to donate money at their will which would be used to donate winter clothes to children of smaller schools. As the motto of civil services is public service, Officer Trainees are enthusiastically donating for this noble cause, and it will continue till the end of the Foundation Course.
